Getting Started On Your Weight Loss Journey

Oftentimes, the most difficult step in starting anything new is the first step. It’s tough to determine where to start, especially when it comes to weight loss.  At Femme Moderne Center for Aesthetics, we recognize weight loss is a deeply personal topic and we want to help guide you towards success in your weight loss journey. 

Understand Your Why 

Before anything else, you need to understand why you want to lose weight. Did someone you love suffer from poor health? Are you wanting to feel better about your appearance?  Having trouble keeping up with activities you enjoy? Be as specific as possible. There can be many layers to why you’re losing weight and understanding your motivation is a key part of beginning your journey. If you don’t fully understand why you want to lose weight, it’s easier to become discouraged or to give up on the journey altogether. Take some time to really work out what’s motivating you and whether or not that reason will keep you on track. 

Have a Professional Consultation 

Just like any other journey, it’s helpful to have some companions and champions to help you along. Going to have a professional weight loss consultation is a great way to solidify your commitment to yourself and develop a plan for success. Your weight loss consultant should ask about your health history and goals, as well as your motivations.. Your consultant can provide you with tips for losing weight and staying motivated throughout your journey. At Femme Moderne, we meet with clients on a one-on-one basis weekly to discuss progress and pitfalls and provide ongoing encouragement.. 

Change Your Mindset 

Losing weight requires a lot of physical effort, but it’s also a mental challenge. If you want to lose weight, you might need to change your mindset about a few things. For example, losing weight doesn’t always mean you’ll see the number dropping on the scale. As you exercise, fat can be lost and muscle is gained simultaneously. You can look and feel thinner while the number on the scale doesn’t change. Don’t be so focused on numbers. Instead, pay attention to your body and your overall health. Additionally, you may need to adjust your mindset when it comes to other factors that contribute to weight loss including dieting. 

There’s a lot that goes into the weight loss journey. As you prepare for your journey, make sure you have everything you need to get started. Understand what your plan is and seek help where needed.
