Skincare Routine

What to Include in Your Skincare Routine?

Over time, your skin faces a lot of wear and tear. In order to retain smooth, glowing skin, you need to take care of it. Having a quality skincare routine will help you to keep your skin looking healthy for years to come.

Cleanse

To start off, you need to make sure you are cleaning your face properly. Ideally, you should wash your face morning and night. The most important time to wash your skin is at night before bed to make sure you are removing makeup, dirt, and environmental debris from your day. The key is to be gentle. Use warm water instead of hot water, and don’t use extremely abrasive cleansers every day. You also don’t want to use too much cleanser. Use just enough to get the job done. If a product advises you to cleanse twice, it is either trying to sell you more product or is an ineffective cleanser. Either way, you only need to cleanse once. When you’re all done, rinse with warm water and pat dry.

Exfoliate

The frequency of exfoliation is individual for everyone. Even sensitive skin needs gentle exfoliation once a week. Some skin types can exfoliate daily, depending on the type of exfoliation used.  Some experts recommend three times a week. The goal of exfoliating is to remove dead skin cells from the top layer of your skin. This helps to brighten your skin, and it increases blood circulation. Make sure you find the right exfoliation tools and products for your skin type. Doing so can help you avoid excess irritation. You should stop exfoliating if you notice your skin becoming more dry, irritated, red, etc.

Moisturize

One of the most important parts of your skincare routine is moisturizing. When you moisturize, you protect your skin. It helps reduce any dryness, and it rejuvenates your skin. Moisturizers can help to balance your skin’s complexion and give you a more youthful appearance. Keeping your skin moisturized can also help to reduce any future skin damage. As you moisturize, avoid rubbing your face. Instead, pat the product onto your face for even distribution and to reduce irritation. Applying in an upward motion can also reduce any skin sagging. You should also make sure you are using enough moisturizer. Even oily or acne-prone skin requires moisturizer.
