Caring for Your Skin After a Laser Treatment

Laser treatments can address a number of issues including unwanted hair and skin irregularities. Having a laser treatment done can help you feel more satisfied with your body and overall look. Once you’ve had one done, you need to make sure you take care of yourself so the end up with the effect you want.

Avoid Sun Exposure & Excessive Heat

Your skin is already very susceptible to damage from the sun. UV rays can lead to permanent skin damage and put you at a greater risk of developing skin cancer. After you’ve undergone a laser treatment, your skin is even more sensitive than normal. You need to make sure you limit your sun exposure as much as possible. If you are exposed to too much sun after a laser treatment, your skin can become irritated and uncomfortable, you can develop dark spots, and other forms of damage. Protect yourself by wearing large hats, sunglasses, sunscreen, etc., and by staying in the shade as much as possible. You may also find that hot water, saunas, heavy exercise, or being out in hot weather draw more heat out of the skin for up to 48 hour after laser treatments, so you may want to avoid these types of activities during that time frame to avoid discomfort.

Moisturize

One of the best things you can do for your skin is to keep it moisturized. When you moisturize your skin, you rejuvenate it and reduce any tightness or dryness. Especially after any kind of laser treatment, your skin will be wanting some extra moisture. Additionally, moisturizing creates a protective barrier for your skin. You can block out irritants, bacteria, dirt, and more and keep your skin protected.

Use Gentle Products

After a laser treatment, your skin can be very tender. Some products can be too harsh for your face and it can cause irritation or other reactions. At Femme Moderne Center for Aesthetics, we have a variety of medical-grade products that have been scientifically tested post-procedure and you can be reassured are safe for your skin. Laser treatments are an investment, and using good quality products will enhance your results and protect the investment you have made.

Your skin needs plenty of attention and care, especially after laser treatments. We would love to help you enhance your look with laser and help you care for your skin in the best way possible afterwards!
